Ryan Schmidt Certified Personal Trainer and Kinesiologist at Lifemoves

Certified Personal Trainer | Youth Athletic Conditioning | Sports Performance Coach

Ryan Schmidt started with Lifemoves in Burnaby during the spring of 2025. He volunteered and was mentored under Alfred to complete the BCAK's required 100 hours of work-integrated learning.

His undergraduate degree in kinesiology from York University provides him with a strong educational foundation in human movement science and athletic performance. He is working as a personal trainer while he pursues accreditation with the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists.

History

Ryan pursued a career in professional football after finishing his first degree in Economics in 2005. He tried out for the NFL's Buffalo Bills during their veteran minicamp and also gained CFL experience in training camps and on the practice roster with the Ottawa Redblacks and Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

He has several years of experience working with high school and professional athletes in the off-season.  These gym-based physical training programs helped them improve their speed, power, and agility for a wide range of sports, including football, golf, soccer, and volleyball.

Why Study Kinesiology?

He shifted his focus to a career in kinesiology after witnessing the impact of injuries and recovery strategies on performance. Ryan's mission is to help others learn to move more efficiently, gain strength, become more agile, and increase speed.

He integrates evidence-based kinesiology with the practical insights he gained on the football field and during conditioning practice to help clients optimize movement and reach their performance goals.

"Sports performance training isn't about chasing perfection - it's about building resilience under pressure. Every rep, every gain, and even small setbacks compound into an athlete who can adapt, endure, and execute when it matters most. With a strong functional foundation, we train the mind and the body and watch the results follow."
