Leah Leads Team on Ride to Conquer Cancer

Lifemoves Health and Rehabilitation has enrolled and team in the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the ride, it is a two day journey from Vancouver to Seattle. Participants ride approximately 120 km per day, averaging about 8 hours a day. It will be a huge challenge, but will be made a lot easier with your help and support.

Cancer affects all of our lives, whether we know someone who has had it or we have battled it ourselves. 2 in 5 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Donations will go towards research, care and teaching working towards changing those stats for the better.

As a Practicing Kinesiologist I make it my life mission in life to enable individuals to function in an inclusive society. Physical activity is an important step in the rehabilitation process when overcoming or managing any sort of medical condition or injury. Over years of work experience, I have realized how one form of therapy can be beneficial to such a wide variety of conditions. No matter how disabled or disconnected one can feel from the world because of their conditions, exercise therapy helps improve quality of life. My call to participate in this ride came with the intention to both raise funds for the BC Cancer Foundation, and to promote physical activity as an important part of the rehab process to those who have been in combat with the disease.

There are two ways you can support this team. First of all, if you or anyone you know would like to participate in the ride or join us a crew member, we would welcome you to our team with open arms. A long journey like this requires motivation and support through teammates participating in the ride along-side you. Anyone is able to participate! All you need is a road bike, helmet and motivation to complete this amazing journey. The ride will take place on June 18th and 19th. The second way you can support this team is through donations. The BC Cancer Foundation sets a goal of $2,500 per rider and $500 per crew but we would like to go above and beyond this goal.
