Last Updated on November 11, 2013 by Alfred Ball

We are excited to welcome Andrea Brennan to the Lifemoves family. Some of our clients have already met Andrea who has additional skills in Kinesio Taping and trigger point therapy which are great additions to therapeutic exercise programs.

About Andrea

She graduated from Dublin City University in 2009 with a BSc. in Athletic Therapy and Training, a degree specializing in the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries in all active populations.

Following graduation, Andrea became a certified member of Athletic Rehabilitation Therapy Ireland, a professional organization dedicated to the promotion, regulation and continued education of certified members. She has also achieved KT1 and KT2 in Kinesio Tape application; this innovative treatment uses specialized tape to support joints and muscles. It can also be used for preventative maintenance, edema and pain reduction.

Andrea has 3 years experience working with athletes and sports teams. In 2008, she had the privilege of completing a 5 month internship in Springfield College, MA with the Athletic Training program. This gave her an opportunity to work full time with the school’s Varsity Football team. In 2009 she began working as the Certified Athletic Rehabilitation Therapist (ARTC) to sports teams associated with An Garda Siochana, Ireland’s National Police Force. This position allowed her to travel all over Ireland as well as giving her an opportunity to gain vast experience and to develop professionally. Andrea’s primary duties included pre-season screening, injury prevention conditioning, emergency first aid, injury evaluation and rehabilitation.

Andrea has a particular passion for manual therapies as well as therapeutic exercise in the treatment of injuries, chronic diseases and the maintenance of a healthy life style. She believes that therapeutic exercise is a key defense against injury and disease as well as an essential rehabilitative tool.

Her Philosophy

Reduced physical fitness will result in an increased risk of injury and chronic disease. As a result, supervised therapeutic exercises are an essential factor in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, particularly following injury or illness. It will also ensure strong muscles, bone and joints and promote psychological well being.

Each program should be tailor-made specifically for the individual requirements of the client and must have achievable goals. Progression at a comfortable pace is key to a pain-free return to work or sport. A strong multifaceted conditioning program should include all the core elements of exercise rehabilitation:

  • Flexibility and joint range of motion restoration
  • Neuromuscular control reestablishment
  • Core-stability restoration
  • Muscular strength, power and endurance
  • Cardiovascular fitness

Andrea is available for treatment sessions in North Vancouver and Coquitlam. To book a session contact her at 604.283.1858 ext 5.
